The apex youth body in Nigeria has direct all youth activities nationwide to be suspended until further notice due to the Corona virus outbreak and increase in the number of newly reported cases in Nigeria.
Since the first reported case of the virus in Nigeria on the 28th of February, new persons have tested positive to the virus in Ogun, Ekiti, and Abuja. In recent times 10 new cases have been reported, seven new cases in Lagos and three in Abuja.
In a statement signed by the National PRO Olugbode Damola stated that the National President of the Council Amb Sukubo SaraIgbe Sukubo has directed all structures of the National Youth Council of Nigeria suspends their activities till further notice due increasing cases of the virus in Nigeria.
He urges the government to further disperse the gathering of people in any form by shutting down none critical activities in the country. While urging Nigerians especially the youth to cooperate with the state and federal government task forces in sharing enlightening information about the virus and adhering to preventive measures provided.
NYCN further request the Government and Private employers to urgently pay workers’ salaries. “We urge all employers of labour to pay workers salaries swiftly, this will enable them to equip their home with the necessities required at this trying period ” the statement reads.
